How can wood be infected?

  • Wet rot: These are fungal moulds that affect timber and decay it from within. They infects wooden structures with high moisture content.
  • Dry rot: It is an aggressive form of timber decay because it can work its way through brick work, plaster and dry wood, weakening materials and causing structural damage.
  • Woodworm: Active woodworm eat away the wood in building materials such as floor boards, joists, stair components and old furniture making tiny holes in them as the larvae feed growing into adults. These worms then leave powdered wood around the exit holes as they fly out to infect fresh timber.
